In Loving Memory of
Pastor Willie Wilson, Jr., a man of faith, love, and service, was called to rest on February 27, 2025, in Houston, Texas.
Born on December 24, 1932, in Franklin, Louisiana, to Willie Wilson, Sr. and Fannie Bowles, Pastor Wilson's life was a testament to the power of God's grace and the impact one person can have on a community. From a young age, Pastor Wilson understood there was a divine calling on his life. He was baptized early and became a member of St. Joseph Baptist Church in Franklin, Louisiana. Upon relocating to Houston, Texas, he united with Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, where under the leadership of the late Pastor Agusta Booker, where he was ordained as Pastor Willie Wilson, Jr.
In 1991, Pastor Wilson founded the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in his home, starting with just a handful of members. The Lord blessed the church with growth, and it soon relocated to a building on 3725 Reed Rd. in the heart of the Sunnyside community. As a shepherd, Pastor Wilson dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, touching the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering faith. In his leisure, Pastor Wilson enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending precious time with his family. His kindness, joy, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Pastor Wilson's love and devotion extended beyond his ministry. On December 23, 1989, he married the love of his life, Essie Hill, and together they built a beautiful family. Their union was blessed with four biological children: Carl, Christopher, Jerome, and Stephanie, as well as four bonus children: Patrick, Parish, Paxton, and Prudencesa. He cherished each of them deeply, sharing his love and guidance equally among them all.
Pastor Wilson was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Washington. He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, leaving cherished memories with his devoted wife of 36 years, Essie Wilson; five sons, Carl, Christopher, Jerome, Patrick, and Paxton; three daughters, Stephanie, Parish, and Prudencesa; his sister, Fannie Morris; his brother, Henry Porter (Naomi); five grandchildren, Zavia, Zamar, Raheem, Parish, and Pia; one great-grandson, Tariq; and a host of other family members and friends who loved him dearly. Though he has been called home, Pastor Willie Wilson, Jr.'s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
