Willis Dean Childers, also known affectionately as Dean,90 passed away on March 21, 2024, at the Upstate Community Hospice House after bravely battling a long illness. Dean was born in Greenville, South Carolina, on February 13, 1934, to the late Mr. Claude Childers and Mrs. Elia Poteat Childers.
Throughout his life, Dean dedicated himself to a successful career in sales, notably for Flower's Bakery. His passion and diligence in sales made him a respected and accomplished salesman. Beyond his professional life, Dean found joy in simple pleasures such as golfing, gardening, and meticulously painting items until they were just right, even if it meant applying eighty coats to get a object painted.
Dean's proudest accomplishment was his loving marriage to Mrs. Norma Childers for 33 years. Their bond was a testament to true love and partnership. Dean is survived by his loving wife Norma Childers; daughters; Deborah Ford (David), DeAnn Henson, Robin Bradley (Wilson), and Wendy Phillips, a son; Tony Phillips (Tracie), a brother; Reverend Calvin Childers; a sister Linda Johnson, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dean was predeceased by his parents; Mr. Claude Childers and Mrs. Elia Poteat Childers; and a great-grandson Jace Jachimski.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Dean's life will be held, Sunday March 24, 2024, at 3 O’clock at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307, officiated by Pastor Mike Hamlet. In remembrance of Dean's remarkable life and the impact he had on all who knew him, let us carry forward the love and kindness he shared. May his legacy of hard work, love for family, and zest for life continue to inspire us all.
