Willis Lee “Corkey” Rhymes, age 45, of Gatesville, Texas went to rest in the arms of our Lord on January 1, 2026. He was born to Denny Doyle Rhymes Sr. and Lola Mae Rhymes on January 17, 1980.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 10, 2026, at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Restland Cemetery.
Corkey was a true jack of all trades; he did whatever it took to provide for and take care of his family. His family was his life, and he loved them more than anything. He married the love of his life, Melissa Hannah, on August 15, 2015. Together, they had five children. He was especially proud of his children—they were the greatest joy of his life. Everything he did was rooted in love, loyalty, and devotion to those he held dear.
He was preceded in death by his father, Denny Doyle Rhymes Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa; his mother, Lola Rhymes; and his children, Logan Rhymes, Addilynn Rhymes, Juan Juarez, Socorro Zamora (Robert), and Maribel Bishop (Nathan). He was a proud grandfather to Copeland Zamora, Weston Stewart, and Kyryn Zamora.
Corkey was the third of eight children and is survived by all his siblings: Penny Cox (Robert), Denny Rhymes (Andrea), Norman Rhymes (Judy), George Rhymes (Adrianne), Elizabeth Rhymes (Fred), Thomas Mayes (Amy), and Martin Munoz.
He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Judy Kelley, and father-in-law, William Kelley; his brothers-in-law Justin Kelley, Cody Kelley, and Bubba Kelley; his sisters-in-law Stephanie Kelley, Sherrie Kelley, and Judy Martinez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Norman Rhymes, Denny Rhymes, Robert Cox, Juan Juarez, Fred Anderson, Justin Kelley, Thomas Mayes, and Eddie Hosick. Honorary Pallbearers: Mike Rhymes and Zachery Mariam.
Corkey will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his humble heart, and his unwavering dedication to his family. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he loved and cared for so deeply.
