Mr. Willis H. Smick

Willis Herbert Smick, age 94 years of the The Villages, FL, formally from Thorofare, NJ went home to the Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Willis was born in Alloway, NJ in his grandparent's farmhouse to the late Herbert and Harriett Smick. He was raised in Woodbury, NJ and was a proud veteran serving in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean conflict.

After his marriage to May Elizabeth (McKnight) Smick, they moved to Oak Valley, NJ and then Ocean City, NJ where he worked for over 35 years at the Atlantic City Electric Company. Shortly after his retirement, they moved to Riverwinds in Thorofare, NJ. He was a devoted member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Clarksboro, NJ. Willis enjoyed spending time Golfing, fishing, hunting, bowling, and going to the Riverwinds Rec Center. He was an avid card player and knew where all the good oyster dinners were. Willis also liked to travel with family and friends, taking thirty cruises all over the world.

He was married to May Elizabeth Smick of Thorofare, NJ for 68 years. He had four children; Terry and Diane Smick of Ocean View, NJ, Donna McHugh (the late Jack McHugh) of Dallas, Texas, Kevin and Kathy Smick of The Villages, FL, John and Wendy Smick of The Villages, FL; loving grandfather to 9 and great grandfather of 16; also survived by his sister Alice Puckett, Eleanor Crouse, and the late brothers Ivan Smick and Wesley Smick and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit the family Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the McBride – Foley Funeral Home, 228 W. Broad St., Paulsboro from 9:30 to 11 AM with funeral service at 11AM. Immediately following, the burial will be at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the Wounded Warriors or Ranch Hope for Boys, 45 Sawmill Rd., P.O. Box 325, Alloway, NJ 08001.
