CHURCH HILL – Wilma Jo (Barrett) Amis, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Wilma was born on July 26, 1937, in Hawkins Co. to her parents Charlie and Roberta (Crigger) Barrett. Wilma was a lifelong resident of Hawkins Co. and was a member at Amis Chapel Methodist Church for many years and was a member at First Baptist Church of Church Hill. She worked at the Kingsport Press for many years and later worked at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home as the Office Manager until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Amis; brothers, Worley Barrett, Roy Barrett, and Clamon Barrett (Glenda).
Wilma is survived by her special niece, Sonjia Ramsey; special nephew, Brian Barrett (fiancée, Tina Ferrell); sisters, Betty Cooper (Robert), and Judy Armstrong (Ronald); brother, Randy Barrett (Jeanette); great niece; Blaire Barrett; great nephew, Bryce Barrett; as well as several dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family would like to say special thanks to the staff at The Village at Allandale for their love and care over the last two years.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:40 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
