Wilma Ruth Ball, age 83, passed away November 2, 2025 at The Waters of Roan Highlands. Wilma was born October 9, 1942 to the late Ham and Lona Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Bob Campbell and wife Reba, Pat Hicks, Linda Street, Kathy Shipley and the father of her children, LJ Whaley.
Wilma was born and raised in Carter County, TN. Being the oldest of 8 children, she spent her childhood caring for her siblings. Wilma spent many years in the restaurant business around Carter and Johnson County. Wilma moved to Georgia, alongside her daughter in 1994 and lived there until her health declined. Wilma was a hard worker her entire life, but her all-time favorite title was being called “Ninny.” She was Ninny to her 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. They were the light of her life and she always enjoyed being able to spoil them.
Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Lori Davis and husband Mike; Lisa Matherly and husband Tim; grandchildren, Michael Davis and wife Caitlin, Brittany Reece and husband Mitchell; Dawson Matherly and Autumn Matherly; great grandchildren, Mia Reece and Max Reece; sister, Sheila Reece and husband Leonard and brothers, David Campbell and wife Shirley, Rick Campbell and wife Della; brother in law, Homer Hicks and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of the Waters of Roan Highlands that became her second family.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor David Hankal officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Lakeview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Davis, Tim Matherly, Michael Davis, Dawson Matherly, Mitchell Reece, and Rick Campbell.
At other times, friends and family may visit the home of her daughter, Lori Davis, 440 Dug Hill Rd, Mountain City, TN 37683.
