Wilma Jean Blankenship, age 87, of the Anna community in Bowling Green, KY, passed away on November 1, 2025, at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.
Wilma and her late husband were members of Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ.
Wilma retired from Holley Carburetor in 2000 after 32 years of dedicated service. During her retirement, Wilma cherished time spent with her loving husband of nearly 52 years before his passing. She loved being at home, tending her garden and flowers, camping, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. Wilma loved her large family so very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Novis Young; her husband of nearly 52 years, Truman Blankenship (father of Jimmy and TaJuana); her first husband of 5 years, Gordon French Jr. (father of Ronnie, Gary, and Kenneth); two sons- Kenneth French and Gary French; sister Wanda Pennington; and brother David Young.
Wilma is survived by her children: sons Ronnie (Kay) French and Jimmy (Sandy) Blankenship, both of Bowling Green; and daughter TaJuana (James) Garvin of Lebanon, TN. She was the proud grandmother of eight: Brandi French, Micah Blankenship, Amie (Pete) DiGiuseppe, Jarrett (Lydia) Blankenship, Lori (Eric) Darnell, Zachary (Savanna) French, Brianna (Jordan) McClain, and Tyler (Bryleigh) Garvin; and the loving great-grandmother of twelve: Logan Crick, Mason Blankenship, Carson French, Kayden Darnell, Bryce Blankenship, Ishmael Blankenship, Colter French, Sadie Darnell, Blakely French, Kylar DiGiuseppe, Beau French, and Raphaela Blankenship. She is also survived by her brother, Darel (Emma) Young, as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family has entrusted J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with arrangements.
Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 1:30pm with burial to follow in Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 3:00pm until 7:00pm and again on Wednesday at 11:30am until time of service at 1:30pm.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
