Wilma Jean Dalessio, age 92, passed away on February 18, 2025, at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. She was born on November 6, 1932, in Cherry Tree (Pine Flats), the daughter of Fred and Gaye (Pittman) Gibson.
Jean graduated from Green Township School and later moved to Indiana, where she attended Indiana Normal School. She worked at Griner's Bakery and Robertshaw before obtaining her beautician license. Jean operated a salon out of her home for many years and retired from ARIN at the age of 62.
Jean married Nick Dalessio on November 25, 1961, and together they started a family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always making herself available to help with homework or take her grandchildren to their various activities. Jean loved to read, garden, and bake, with pies being her specialty.
Her faith played an important role in her life. She was an active member of the First Christian Church, where she taught Bible School, sang in the choir, and helped with rummage sales.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Vicky (Dan) Braun; son, David (Tammy) Dalessio; grandchildren, Nicholas Dalessio of Harrisburg, Emily (Kyle) Shackle of Danville, OH, Olivia (John) Ogden of Santa Clarita, CA, and Evan Dalessio of Smicksburg; 3 great-grandchildren, Ava and Cecelia Shackle, and Ella Jean Ogden; her brother, Dean Gibson of Cherry Tree; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick, in 2021, and her parents.
The family extends their sincere thanks to Maple Valley Personal Care for their exceptional care.
Visitation will be held at Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana, PA at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, with a service following at 11:00am. Interment will be private and held directly afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's memory to the First Christian Church, 500 Water Street, Indiana, PA 15701.
Jean will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
