It is with heavy hearts we inform you of the passing of our mother, Wilma Faye Garrett "Granny", from this earth and into her heavenly home on June 14, 2025.
She was a woman of faith and accepted Jesus Christ as her savior as a young teen. She devoted her life to her loving husband of 46 years and to her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her most prized possession in her life time. Wilma was a mother and grandmother of unwavering love and a pillar of strength to all of her family and friends. To know her meant you were loved unconditionally and always had a safe loving place to call home where there was always a hot yummy meal prepared and a place to rest.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Nollie Angeline Slayton; her father, Aubrie Miller; her sons, Desi Ray and Desi Keith Moore; her brothers, James Aubri Miller, Tony Lee Slayton and Benny Ray Slayton; her sisters, Brenda Sue Cook and Margie Hatton; as well as her grandparents, James and Nellie Thompson and Ernie Miller and Mazie Casteel.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Allen Garrett; her brothers, Billy (Grace) Slayton and Billy (Bobbie) Slayton; her children, Donyail Garrett Duffer, Angela Garrett, Daniel Garrett and Maranda Huntsman; her grandchildren, Xavier Sweet, Zackary Perdue, Isabella Kirk, Taylor Duffer, Brianna Duffer, Paislee Duffer, Joshua (Amber) Huntsman, Tyler Huntsman and Felicia (Ricky) Qualls; as well as a number of great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Garrett will be conducted on Thursday, June 19th, 2025 at 11AM from the chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Alec Cort officiating. Interment will follow in the Eulia Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Zackary Perdue, Xavier Sweet, Joshua Huntsman, Tyler Huntsman, Johnathan Cook and Nathaniel Huntsman. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 18th from 10AM till 8PM and again on Thursday, June 19th from 8AM till service time at 11AM at Woodard Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family request you make donations to the funeral expenses at Woodard Funeral Home.
The family has entrusted Woodard Funeral Home with the care of their loved one. "Serving you as we would like to be served."
