Mrs. Wilma Jean Reeves, 69, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at her residence following two years of declining health. Mrs. Reeves was born in Cherokee County, June 21, 1942, a daughter of William and Catherine Southards Lee. She worked in area hosiery mills for many years. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed making them gravy and biscuits. Wilma loved doing crossword puzzles, gardening, flowers, and animals of all kinds, especially birds. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ray and Jesse Lee. Surviving are her husband of fifty years, Thomas Reeves of the home; two sons, William Reeves of Trinity and Johnny Reeves and wife Cherie of Archdale; four grandchildren, Ashley Vickers and husband Jason of Trinity, SGT. Matthew Reeves and wife Alexis of Hawaii, Brittany Reeves of Chapel Hill and Kaleb Reeves of Archdale; two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Laith Vickers; three sisters, Shirley Medford of High Point, Pearly Blevins and husband Clay of Trinity and Faye Leonard of Whiteville; two brothers, Paul Lee and wife Ruby of Cherokee and Randall Lee of Thomasville. Graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Floral Garden Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Davis Funerals and Cremations Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. Memorials should be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont.
