Wilma Maryann Bondy was born on April 28, 1940, in Deerfield, Michigan. She was one of six children born from the union of Paul Joseph Bondy and Vera (Bragg) Bondy. She graduated from Ida High School in 1960 and later continued her education by enrolling in college courses.
As a young woman, she played in a lady's softball league in Monroe, where her skills and versatility shone as a pitcher, first baseman, and shortstop. Additionally, her competitive spirit continued throughout her life as she later participated in a local bowling league.
In 1970, Wilma became a licensed practical nurse (LPN), a role that would define much of her professional life as she was gainfully employed within the nursing field for over thirty years. Despite the challenges of crossing picket lines during the turbulent times of labor strikes, she remained strong in her commitment to provide for her family. With seven mouths to feed, Wilma's determination was often tested, but her dedication and hard work ensured a happy and loving household for her children.
Though life took her on a different path, Wilma's ultimate dream was to become a NASCAR race driver. While she never had the chance to pursue this passion fully, her love for speed and the thrill of racing remained an aspiration. Likewise, Wilma's heart belonged to Disney, where Cinderella's enchanting story and Tinker Bell's mischievous, magical presence captivated her imagination.
Wilma also loved to travel, and she found great pleasure in exploring new places and cultures. Her travels took her to numerous museums and antique auctions from Georgia, to New Orleans, South Carolina, and even to the Amish country in Indiana.
Wilma Maryann Shultis, age 84, passed away at 3:42pm on Sunday; April 13, 2025, at her home. Her passing was preceded by her parents; her first husband: Clarence William Keister, Sr.; her second husband: Raymond Shultis; her son: Clarence William (Bill) Keister Jr; a great granddaughter: Angel Hyden; two sisters: Elaine Drefke and Rosalyn Person; and a brother: James Bondy.
To cherish her memory, she leaves six children: Christopher Joseph (Mary) Keister, James Aaron Keister, Lamont Lee (Karen) Keister, Paul Ford (Colleen) Keister, Crystal Ann Russell, and Elizabeth Mayann Mattson; a stepdaughter: Yvonne Holler; two sisters: Linette (Don) Willoughby and Paula (Robert) Leon; thirty grandchildren; two step grandchildren; fifty-four great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 9:00am until 11:00am on Thursday; April 24, 2025, at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070.
