Larned – Wilma Jean Vratil, 96, passed away December 31, 2022 at Presbyterian Manor, Lawrence.
She was born February 27, 1926 in Osawatomie, the daughter of Orland and Hazel Glinkman Shearer.
A Larned resident until moving to Lawrence in 2014, she was an aide at Larned State Hospital. She was a member of Larned United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of JFR Club, St. Joseph Auxiliary, a Girl Scout Troop leader, she volunteered at the Budget Shop and may other activities.
She married Charley Vratil at Larned and they were married for 66 years; he preceded her in death in 2013.
Survivors include: son, Gary (Jeanette) Vratil, Rose Hill; daughter, Sherry Vratil, Lawrence; three grandchildren, Kent Vratil, Winfield, Betsy (Chris) Bumgarner, Andover, Scott Schmidt, Lawrence; four great grandchildren, Brandon Bumgarner, Todd Bumgarner, Marion Schmidt, and Elle Schmidt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Beth Crumet, and sister, Velma Shearer.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2023 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Tricia North presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Larned United Methodist Church in care of Beckwith Mortuary, PO Box 477, Larned, Kansas 67550. Personal condolences may be left at www.beckwithmortuary.com.
