Wilner Sylvestre, 81 of Kingston New York passed away peacefully on Friday August 8th,2025 surrounded by his loved ones. Wilner was born on August 2, 1944 in Port Au Prince, Haiti to his mother Yvonne Theodort of Jacmel, Haiti and father Charitable Sylvestre of Havana Cuba. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Eve Sylvestre and all of his siblings: Jean Sylvestre, Jack Sylvestre, Marie Sylvestre, Eve Sylvestre, Kobe Sylvestre and Joseph Sylvestre with whom he shared countless of memories. He lived a life defined by faith, kindness, and dedication to his family and community. A man of strong values and warm spirit, Wilner touched the lives of all who knew him through his generosity, wisdom, and unwavering love. Known for his warm smile and generous spirit, he made everyone feel welcome, whether they were lifelong friends or new acquaintances.
He completed his High School Diploma and went on to pursue a dual career with the Board of Education and as a Security guard in New York City, where he was known for his integrity, diligence, and ability to inspire others. He retired from the Board of Education in the early 2000’s. Beyond his professional life, Wilner was deeply committed to serving the Lord. Wilner had a passion for traveling, music, driving, playing dominos and spending time with his family and friends. His laughter, guidance, and compassion will be forever missed. His greatest pride was his family, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will carry on for generations.
He is survived by his wives: Elsie Rock Sylvestre & Denise Jean Phillipe Sylvestre along with his following children: Bernadin Sylvestre, Darnege Sylvestre, Akina Sylvestre, Wilner Junior Sylvestre, Ann Sylvestre, Dorothy Semexant, Rebecca Dumas. Wilner has 17 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Wilner leaves behind his loved ones who will cherish his memory. The family and friends of Wilner extend their heartfelt thanks for the love, prayers, and support shown during this time of remembrance.
