Wilson "Pete" Abel, age 70, of Gadsden, passed away on December 15, 2025, as the result of a tragic automobile accident.

Pete will be fondly remembered for his talent as a tennis player in his younger years. He was a 1973 graduate of Gadsden High School and later graduated from Auburn. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Pete was deeply loved by those who knew him and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Vera Abel; his grandparents, Wilson and Cora Lee Abel, and Oliver and Hesta Pertree.

He is survived by his sister, Cathy (Mickey) Kessler, nephew Mitch (Kelly) Kessler and his children Mia and Mallory, a niece Laura (Josh) Haralson and her children Mae and Duncan. An Aunt Patsy Abel, cousins Bonnie (John) Brooks, Kim Abel, Keely Abel, Reid Abel, and Kelly (Marty) Mooney.

Pete was a GHS classmate. He was known for his unfailing positive attitude and his humor. They don´t make em like they used to . He will be badly missed .

Pete was a good friend from my young years on Alcott Rd. He was always kind and a really nice guy. I went to high school with him also . I´m sorry for our loss of him God bless Pete and all the family Scott Sheffield. Indianapolis Indiana

So sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. I talked to him frequently and he was a very interesting person. He loved feeding the squirrels and watching them out the window of his apartment. He even painted the wood fence, where he fed them, and trimmed it in green. He loved inventing new things. I will miss talking to him and seeing him daily. May he rest in peace
