Wilson Kenneth Britton

Wilson Kenneth Britton, of Hollywood, South Carolina, passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 96 on the same farm where he was born and raised. He was born on September 5, 1929, to the late William Joseph Britton and Lottie Powers Britton.

Mr. Britton was the beloved husband of Brenda Branton Britton, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. He was a proud family man whose life was defined by service, hard work, and quiet strength.

He graduated St. Paul's High School, where he was an accomplished football player. Following high school, Mr. Britton honorably enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. During his military service, he was a talented football player, boxer and accrued 12 jumps. Mr. Britton went on to play Semi Pro football for Charleston Sports.

After his military service, Mr. Britton enjoyed a long and dedicated career as a truck driver for Texaco Oil Company, where he was respected for his professionalism which resulted in him receiving the Two Million Mile Safety Driving Award. After retiring from Texaco, he became the caretaker of Dixie Plantation for 9 years. Mr. Britton was a lifelong and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. Britton leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Brenda Branton Britton; his daughter, Dixie Ellenberg (Jack); his sisters, Lois Britton Boyles and Ann Britton Dodd; and his treasured grandchildren, Briar Jackson Ellenberg, John Britton Ellenberg, Banks Thompson Ellenberg, Madeleine Lohse Britton, Wilson Kenneth Britton III and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Wilson Kenneth Britton, II and his siblings: James Foster Britton, William Joseph Britton, Evelyn Britton Green, Lottie Britton Rhodes, Isaac Ripon Britton, Charles Edward Britton and Caroline Britton Waters.

The family of Mr. Wilson Kenneth Britton will celebrate his life on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel.
