Wilton was a dedicated truck driver where he worked for 38 years at Chastant Farms and Garden. His work was a testament to his unwavering commitment and strong work ethic. Even in the face of recent health challenges that led him to retire in February 2025, Wilton approached life with simplicity and joy.
As the youngest and only son in his family, he was shaped by his roots as the son of a sharecropper. Wilton lived by the motto of being content with the essentials; he valued family over the latest fads and found pleasure in the company of loved ones. His endearing nature earned him the affectionate nicknames "Pop T-Beb" from his grandchildren and "Uncle Boy" from his nieces and nephews.
In his leisure time, Wilton loved to fish, a hobby he pursued passionately, whether for hours or mere minutes. His preference for bread as bait showcased his personality of a "simple man". He will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dolores Lasseigne Degeyter; daughters, Tonia Degeyter Arnaud (Widley) and Naomi Degeyter Gieber (Jack); sister, Thelma Rivet; grandchildren, Tayla Degeyter (Robbie), Kolbie Arnaud, Kenadie Arnaud, Parker Degeyter, Jackson Gieber, and Bentley Gieber; and five great grandchildren, Irie Mae Boudreaux, Daxx Paul Boudreaux, Ellie Jane Boudreaux, Anna Sage Boudreaux, and Ember Jenee Romero.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Genevieve Taylor Degeyter; son, Aaron Degeyter; grandson, Sean Tyler Degeyter; and sisters, Gloria Degeyter Guidry and Hilda Degeyter Credeur.
Pallbearers will be Widley Arnaud, Parker Degeyter, James Mount, Andy Lasseigne, Jack Gieber, and Robbie Boudreaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jackson Gieber, Bentley Gieber, and Daxx Boudreaux.
