WINIFRED M. DISCEPOLO
1943-2025
Winifred M. “Wendy”(nee Tyne), died November 12, 2025, at the age of 82, in Long Island, NY, after a brief illness. Wendy was born on June 11, 1943 to Charles and Winfred Tyne. She grew up in Bergenfield, NJ and the only girl in family of 6 children. Ms. Discepolo attended high school at St. Cecilia ’61 in Englewood, NJ and Rivier College in Nasua, NH, receiving her BA in 1965. She worked as a homemaker, legal secretary and social worker before retiring in 1998 to care for her Grandchildren.
Wendy was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend. She was a two-time cancer survivor and in recovery for over 36 years. She enjoyed skiing and spending time at the family farm in upstate New York. Perspicacious in nature, she was always ready for all she endured and enjoyed. Ms. Discepolo was voracious reader and coveted her quiet time. Possessing a dry Irish wit and perseverance to handle any situation head on, she was the picture of the resilience. She touched all she met with her kind gentle way and words of reassurance and encouragement.
She leaves behind 5 Children, Tracey Discepolo (Joe Mocniak) of Massapequa, NY, Don Discepolo (Faith Walker) of Ellicott City MD, Keri Discepolo (Kalpendu Parekh) of Boston, MA, Kristin Discepolo of Rockville, MD and Danny Discepolo of Highland Lakes, NJ, 12 Grandchildren, Grant Discepolo, Lily Discepolo, Drew Discepolo, Joseph Mocniak, Amelie Mocniak, Shann Parekh, Ava Discepolo, Ava Wildesen, Nathaniel Wildesen, Thomas Discepolo, Connor Discepolo, Kylie Discepolo. In addition, Ms. Discepolo also leaves behind three brothers Barry Tyne, Gerald Tyne and Andrew Tyne, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents and brothers Victor Tyne and Jeffrey Tyne predeceased her death.
A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima, 2 Bayview Ave. Massapequa, NY on November 22, 2025 at 11:15am.
The Family will receive guests following the Mass at home of Tracey and Joe Mocniak at 4105 Merrick Road, Massapequa NY following the mass.
The Family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
