Winston Burner Obituary

Age 87, passed away on the early morning of Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at his home. Funeral service will take place 11:00 AM, Friday, January 3, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek with Pastor Aaron Whitman presiding. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 2 at the funeral home and again from 10:00 AM until the time of service Friday. Wayne was born on February 20, 1937 in Parma, Missouri the son of the late Clifford and Daisy (Arnold) Burner. He later met Shirley Blevins. They dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on October 5, 1955 in Flint. Wayne and Shirley began a life together and were blessed with four beautiful children. In 1970, they moved to Swartz Creek where they would continue to remain. Wayne worked for GM Chevy V8 in Flint for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. He was a member and former Deacon of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Swartz Creek. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family and all his dear grandchildren. In his free time, Wayne enjoyed keeping busy with work, farming and working with his son, Winston Jr. dry walling. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Shirley; 3 children, Winston Jr. (Rebecca) Burner, Carshenia (Fred) Shepard and Patrick (Shelley) Burner; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie Croteau (Ryan), Jill (Mike) Croteau, Karrie (Eric) Schmidt, Matthew (Kourtney) Williams, Dalton (Casey) Burner, Sarah Burner (Eric), Eric (Patricia) Sweet, Andrea (Jason) Wirsing, Autumn (Aaron) Hynes, and Janette (Homer) Delgato; 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Tayler, Hunter, Addilynn, Evan, Jacob, Kendall, Graham, Donovan, Allison, Augustus, Kyle and Evan; 1 great-great grandson, Leland; 2 siblings, Joyce (Eugene) McPherson and Jimmie (Debra) Burner; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Kellie Miller; and siblings, Robert Burner, Margaret Hutson, Thomas Burner and Jerrald Burner.
