In Loving Memory of Witold “Jake” Kalinowski

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Witold “Jake” Kalinowski, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and unconditional love.

Born in Poland, Jake proudly served in the Polish army, where fate led him to the love of his life. He and his wife were married in 1952, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, resilience, and devotion. Their marriage spanned over 62 years—a beautiful legacy of commitment and unity.

In 1960, with the help of his brother Albin, Jake and his young family immigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities. They eventually settled in the Bridesburg neighborhood of Philadelphia, where they raised their two daughters and later welcomed a third. Jake embraced his new life in America with unwavering determination, first working in a restaurant, and then as a contractor. His tireless spirit and craftsmanship eventually led him to a position as a maintenance worker at St. John’s Cantius Church, where he dedicated 30 years of service and built lasting relationships.

Later in life, Jake moved in with his daughter Lila. Even in his later years, he was never one to sit still—he could always be found tending to the garden, fixing something around the house, or lending a helping hand wherever needed. He was the kind of man who put everyone before himself, working endlessly to provide for his family and ensure they had everything they needed.

Jake was the glue that held his family together. He brought people close with his bright smile, infectious laughter, and heartfelt stories. His warmth and compassion touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

His presence at family gatherings, his steady hands, and his loving heart will be deeply missed. Jake’s legacy of love, strength, and generosity will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to be part of his life.

Rest in peace, Jake. Your light will never fade from the hearts you touched.

Jake was the husband of the late Katarzyna and beloved father of Lila Snarski (the late Kazimierz). Heddie Zarzecki (Chris) and Christine Brock (Tim). Loving grandfather (Dziadzi) of Angie Targonski, Michael Zarzecki (Deanna), Amy Goodwin (James) and Katie Brock. Great grandfather (Dziadzi) of Arianna Targonski, Bella Targonski, Natalia Zarzecki and Nicholas Zarzecki. Also sadly missed by his nephew Ted Kalinowski (Dorota). Relatives and friends are invited to gather Saturday, June 21st from 10 AM to 11 AM at the outdoor Wooden Chapel on the grounds of Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, 654 Ferry Road Doylestown, PA. Prayers will begin 11 AM followed by burial in the cemetery.
