Woneetta Mae Piper

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Woneetta

"Won" Mae Piper (Barrus), who went home peacefully at home surrounded by love and family on December 30* of 2025. She was 74 years old.

She was the heart of her family, a steady presence, comfort and a woman whose love ran deep and unwavering. To know her was to feel cared for, loved and fed. But more than anything she was a devoted wife, mother, and "memaw". Roles she embraced selflessly, and gracefully. She was a loving wife of 54 years to Michael W. Piper. Who together shaped generations of memories, warmth and a forever home.

Won was a 1970 Pennfield High School graduate and worked at Pennfield Schools part-time as an aid in the 80s and occasionally at local nursing homes. Won and her husband were active members of Misfits Car Club and in Fiesta of the 50's Car Shows from the 80s to the 90s. In her final days, she fought hard against her battle with cancer. She was deeply loved and cared for at home prior to passing. Though our hearts ache, we know she is no longer suffering and is now at peace.

She is survived by her husband Michael W. Piper, her twin sister; Joetta Peck, brother; Wayne Barrus and brother; Chester "Jim" Barrus. Her three sons; Michael J. L. (Nikki) Piper, Jason A. E. Piper, and Joseph W. L. Piper. Her grandchildren; Alyssia (Aryan) Coulter, Cade Piper, Sierra (Bret) Harvey, Jordan (Zach) Balkema, Abigaile Piper, Jase Piper, Gregory Piper, and Charlie-Mae Piper. She has 7 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way.

She was proceeded in death by her mother; Thelma Barrus, father; Chester Barrus and sister; Teresa Barrus

A small, intimate, family visitation was held Tuesday, December 30", 2025 at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Services.

While there are no plans for a funeral, there will be a celebration of life held at a later time.
