Woodrow Wilson Dickerson, Jr., was born on August 12, 1951, in Granville County and passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Person County. He lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and a profound love for his family.
Woodrow began his career at the young age of 16 as a Funeral Home Assistant. A high school graduate, he pursued further education, achieving an Associates Certification in barbering that would bolster his career, becoming a licensed Barber and ultimately retired from Murdoch Center, where he served as a health care worker. His dedication to his work reflected not only his skills but also his compassion for others.
Woodrow’s commitment to his family and community was evident in all he did, from his professional life to his cherished personal interests.
A passionate fisherman, he found joy and tranquility in fishing in any form. Those who knew him would describe him as someone who radiated warmth and kindness, always showing love and care for his family.
Woodrow was a dedicated family man, leaving behind a loving legacy that includes his son, Kevin Dickerson, daughter-in-law, Sherry Dickerson, and grandchildren Taylor, Cameron, Hayley, Sarah, Frank, and Ashley. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Maxii, Alex, Waylen, and Anderson, who brought him great joy. He loved his church family at Providence Baptist Church in Oxford, NC.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Moss Dickerson, and his parents, Woodrow Wilson Dickerson, Sr. and Rosa Burchette Dickerson. Along with them, he was reunited with eight siblings, who will hold a special place in his memory.
A funeral service honoring Woodrow’s remarkable life will take place on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Providence Baptist Church in Oxford, NC, starting at 4:00 PM. A visitation will be held prior, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, culminating in a burial at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery around 5:00 PM.
Woodrow Wilson Dickerson, Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and in the memories they shared. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Brotherhood of Providence Baptist Church.
