Yan Sims Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Strawbridge Memorial Chapel on Dec. 18, 2025.
Yan Sims was born July 14, 1961, in Cleveland, Ohio to William J. McCargo and Mary L. Black. She was the oldest of her mother's kids and the 2nd youngest of her dad's kids; Horace "Mac", Micheal, Shirly (deceased), Robert "Pig" (deceased), William "BooBoo" (deceased), Diane, Larry (deceased), Harvey (deceased), Ronnie, Lonnie, Alvester "Al", Vance, Manita "Tudy", Willie "Man", Terry (deceased).

Yan lived in Cleveland on the east side, most of her life in the Wade Park community close to her siblings.

Yan attended East High School until, little did she know that she was going to meet the father of her 3 kids; Yan never married.

Yan attended Cleveland Church of Christ from time to time where she was baptized.

Yan was a proud and strong member of Sam's club. The younger Yan enjoyed the clubs like many others. Her facial expression would always tell you if she cared for you at that time. Yan enjoyed a good road trip, depending on the driver (anyone would do, but Pork, Beedy & DeLorean), but she managed to always be at Dave's, Walmart, or Sam's Club spending everyone's money but hers.

Yan also enjoyed cooking and preferred sharing those moments with her family, and grandkids; finding her greatest companionship and joy among them. Oh, and a game of spades…COUNT HER IN!

Yan leaves behind to cherish her precious memories four adult kids: Lenny, Yanisha, DeLorean, and JuJuan; seven siblings: Horace, Ronnie, Diane, Alvester, Vance, Manita, and Willie; grandchildren: Brittney (Huntsville, AL), Kaylaun "KK", Lenny Jr. "Beedy", Mary Monae "MooMoo", Christion "Pork", Debreah "Breah", Khimani, Rayonna "Gannies girl", JuJuan Jr. "Fatty", Armis "King", JAYCEON, Larnell, Ahsinay "Muffin" and Isreal. In addition to her kids and grandkids she also leaves her Great Aunt Judy, her cousins who were more like siblings, and a host of many other family members.
