Obituary of Yia Vue
Fai Yia Vue, 67, passed away on June 29, 2024. He was born in Phu Huam, Laos to Vam Yis Vue and May Lor Vue. He was the youngest of ten children with five brothers, Thoj, Ntxoov Neeb, Vaj Lis, Nom Pheej, and Txhawj Pov and four sisters, Mim, Rwj, Maim, and Mas. During the Vietnam War, Fai Yia made many trips across the Mekong River to help other families escape persecution and eventually emigrated to Thailand. In 1978, he met his first wife, Pang Xiong, and welcomed their son, Cheng, in Nong Kai Refugee Camp.
In October 1979, Fai Yia and his family made the decision to relocate to Lofton, Oklahoma, United States of America where their second son, Lee Ma, was born in 1980. Fai Yia's curiosity and sense of adventure led him to live in several cities across the United States: Spokane, WA in 1981 where David was born, Tulsa, OK where Steven was born in 1982, Fresno, CA in 1983, where both Thao (1983) and Neng (1985) were born, and Crescent City, CA in 1986 where Ger was born. Fai Yia made the decision to settle in Oroville, CA in 1992, where his eighth son, Kata, was born in 1994.
Fai Yia met his second wife, Xia Xiong, in 2001 and welcomed her seven children into the family: Houa, Mai Vue, Pao Choua, Pao Ge, Seng Pao, Joua, and Ruaj. Fai Yia and Xia also shared two daughters, Citsa and Lychia.
Fai Yia was an active member of the community and loved helping others. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed tinkering with tools and cars. In addition to his variety of hobbies, he worked as a dealer at Gold Country Casino for over ten years. In 2014, Fai Yia survived a heart attack and enjoyed many years afterward, focusing on his family and friends, traveling, and welcoming new children-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Fai Yia's impact on the community and those he loved lives on in the family that he leaves behind. Fai Yia leaves behind his two wives, thirteen sons, four daughters, two sons-in-law, ten daughters-in-law, thirty-nine grandchildren, two (grand) daughters-in-law, and two great-grandchildren.
