Ying, born on December 15, 1960 in Harbin, China, was the youngest of four children in her family. After her early education in Harbin, she attended Peking University where she studied Chemistry and met the love of her life, Larry. They married in 1988 and over the years raised two daughters, Annie and Sara.
In 1989, after three years of teaching at a campus of Peking University, Ying won a full scholarship to study at Purdue University where she pursued her Masters degree in organic chemistry and paved the way for her family to settle down in the U.S. Her intelligence and diligence led her to an impactful career in pharmaceutical R&D at pharma companies and drug quality regulatory science at the FDA.
Her family and friends know her to be brave, free spirited, and adventurous. She was a bold advocate for her loved ones, a passionate evangelist who led many family and friends to Christ, and a faithful servant in church and community. She loved traveling, venturing off the beaten path, and was a lifelong learner. Her expansive hobbies ranged from baking to foraging and dancing. She even started taking piano lessons in her final months.
Ying passed away on August 11, 2025 at the age of 64 with her family by her side. As she battled cancer in her final months, her unwavering faith and deep love for her family was an inspiration to all. She leaves behind her beloved husband, two daughters, their spouses, and two precious granddaughters.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Ying’s life on this dedicated webpage. Your condolences, stories, videos and pictures will be cherished by the family and provide comfort during this difficult time.
