Yoko Springstead, 84, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, in Abilene, TX. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 W. Lake Rd, Abilene, TX 79601.
Yoko was born in North Korea on April 13, 1941, to Sadao and Sagino Otsu. She started her career as a hairdresser, a profession she enjoyed in Japan, Washington State, and Hawaii.
Yoko cherished the opportunity to travel with her husband during his service in the Air Force, experiencing life in various locations. She always looked forward to her trips back home to Japan to reconnect with family and friends.
Above all, Yoko loved being with her family, especially her friends and grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Her kindness, spirit of adventure, and love for her family are the legacy she leaves behind.
She is survived by her three sons, Douglas Springstead, Donald Springstead and with Pamela, and Dale Springstead; grandchildren, Jacob Springstead, Jordan Springstead, and Cassie Bautista; three great grandchildren, Colby Springstead, Payton Springstead, and Noah Bautista.
Yoko is preceded in death by her husband, Darwin Springstead; and 6 siblings.
