Yola was born on June 25, 1927, in Washington, LA, and peacefully departed this world on May 16, 2024, at her residence in Opelousas. Yola showed everyone she met the utmost respect and made it a point to make people feel good and leave well fed. She lived a life filled with love and generosity. She touched the lives of all who knew her with unwavering compassion. Yola's warm smile could light up a room, and her presence brought comfort to those around her.

Throughout her lifetime, Yola found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an excellent cook who delighted in preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. Her gatherings were always filled with laughter and shared moments that will be cherished forever. Yola also had a passion for entertaining, making sure everyone felt welcome and loved in her home.

Yola had a competitive spirit when it came to playing games, especially Bridge and Rummikub. Many hours were spent around the card table with friends, strategizing and sharing stories. Her green thumb was evident in her beautiful garden, where she spent countless hours cultivating colorful blooms and lush foliage.

Yola's adventurous spirit led her to explore various destinations through travel such as Egypt, Canada, Europe, the Holy Land and Hawaii. She relished new experiences and embraced different cultures with open arms. Her zest for life was truly inspiring to all who knew her.

She served her community for many years through active participation in the St. Landry Altar Society, the Opelousas General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and her local rosary group.

At the time of her passing, Yola was surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. The bond she shared with her loved ones was unbreakable, and the memories created together will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
