It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Yolanda Leonor Yarleque Naranjo, who peacefully left this world at the age of 97 on January 22nd, 2025, to reunite with her late husband, Pedro Mejico Yarleque, in Heaven.
Born in 1927 in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Julio Cesar Naranjo Viteri and Maria Dominga Arce, Yolanda was one of eight siblings: Humberto, Rosa, Teresa, Arturo, Octavio, Walter, Daniel, and Gladys.
At the age of 27, she married Pedro in 1955. She left Ecuador in 1968 with her four children to join her husband and became lifelong residents of Queens, NY, where Yolanda dedicated herself to raising her children and creating lasting memories for them and their grandchildren.
A devoted mother, she leaves behind her three daughters, Yolanda, Narcisa, and Gina, and one son, Fidel. Yolanda loved them deeply, raising them with warmth, kindness, and wisdom. She was a constant source of unwavering support and strength for her children, always offering love, encouragement, and a listening ear.
As a grandmother, Yolanda brought joy and laughter into the lives of her 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit, boundless love, and gentle nature were a constant presence in her family's lives. She took great pride in them, and her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will continue to guide them. Even in her later years, she cherished holding, kissing, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always made it a point to be there for every celebration, offering her warmth and support.
In addition to her family, Yolanda was a friend to many, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. Her strength, grace, and laughter will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Yolanda Leonor Yarleque Naranjo leaves behind a profound legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
