Yolinda "Yoli" Oropeza died Sunday March 9, 2025 at St Catherine Hospital of Dodge City, Kansas. She was born July 3, 1962 in Amarillo, Texas the daughter of Herminio and Manuelita (Lovato) Arias.
Yolinda grew up in Texas and moved to Deerfield in 1986. It was that year she met and married Rafael Oropeza on 12-27-1986. Yolinda's interests were as varied as they were passionate. She loved to dance and cook for family. Thrifting was more than a hobby for Yolinda; it was a treasure hunt. She had an eye for rare thrift items, and her collection was a testament to her patience and keen sense of value.
Above all, Yolinda's heart belonged to her grandbabies. She was the epitome of a loving grandmother, her face alight with pride and joy at every achievement and milestone. Her grandbabies were her world, and the love she had for them was boundless and pure.
Survivors include her Husband- Rafael Oropeza; Children- Joseph (Claudia) Arias, Andrea Arias, Cecelia (Robert) Oropeza, Joaquin Ortega, and Benjamin Ortega; 8 grandchildren; Siblings- Alfredo (Martha) Lovato, Henry (Julie) Arias, Ruben (Rene) Arias and Gene Martinez & numerous Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Son- Rafael Oropeza Jr; Siblings- Ernesto Arias and Raymond Arias & Nephew-Ronnie Arias.
Visitation will be held 2:00-8:00 pm Thursday March 13, 2025 and 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Friday March 14, 2025 both at Garnand Funeral Home of Lakin, Kansas. A Rosary will follow Friday at 6:30 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am Saturday March 15, 2023 at St Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Peter Tran as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Deerfield Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Yolinda Oropeza Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home 412 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS 67846 620-276-3219
