Yong Ae Bowden, 89, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel Lampasas on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 2 pm with visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Yong was born in Seoul, South Korea on February 8, 1935. She married EK Bowden and they adopted Jin and Hyun. She and EK sponsored over many members of the Shin and Jung family members. Yong was always a bargain hunter and a "sale" was her favorite word. Appearance and not losing face were her values in life. She saved S and H green stamps to get her prizes and double stamp day was music to her soul. She saved for whatever prize she wanted.
She was the youngest of three children having an older brother and an older sister. She came back to Korea after having married EK in 1962 and then returned to the States. She and EK settled in Texas in 1967 on a 5-acre plot of land in Florence, Texas. She worked in a nursing home as an aide.
Yong was preceded in death by her husband, EK. She is survived by her son, Jin, and her daughter, Hyun Martin, and numerous other loving family members and friends.
