Yun Sook "Susie" Irvin (née Lee), 85, of Timonium, Maryland, passed away on November 11, 2025. She was surrounded by her loved ones after a sudden but brief illness.
Susie was born in Seoul, Korea, in 1940 to the late Mrs. Sung Yon Lee (née Chun) and Mr. Chong Ho Lee. Although she was educated at the prestigious Ewha Womans University in Seoul, it was her 60-year career as a hair stylist that brought her the greatest passion, enjoyment, and independence. Her clients and colleagues were truly her second family.
Susie was married to the late Bobby Frank Irvin, and together they had one daughter, Karen Elaine Barry (née Irvin). She was a hard-working, funny, and energetic 'health nut,' who fiercely loved her family. She loved to travel, especially to visit her beloved grandchildren.
Susie is survived by her daughter, Karen Elaine Barry, and son-in-law, Ryan Grover Barry; her grandchildren, Brooke Lee Barry and Connor Joseph Barry, all of Jupiter, Florida; her brother Don Lee; her sister Janet Kang; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Grace Kang, Charles Lee, and brother Jook Chon Lee.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel in Timonium, Maryland. A private family entombment will follow immediately afterward.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of St. Joseph's Hospital and Stella Maris Hospice, and to the many family, friends, colleagues, and clients who came from near and far to support her and her family.
The family welcomes flowers, which may be delivered to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
Susie will be deeply missed, but our countless memories of her and her profound impact on everyone who met her will never, ever be forgotten.
