Yvonne Lucille (Gordon) Eccles of Brooksville, Florida, passed away on February 5, 2026, at 88 years of age. Loving mother of Gordon (Linda) Eccles, Steven (Candace) Eccles and Kenneth Eccles. Dearest grandmother of Kevin (Melanie), Karrie (Taylor) Martin, Gregory, Brian, Sylvia and great-grandmother of Kirsten and Junia. Yvonne is survived by her sister, Linda (Charles) Hodge. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wordon and Mildred (Burns) Gordon, her brother Larry Gordon, and her loving husband Ralph Eccles.
Yvonne attended Spring Arbor College for two years then graduated from Greenville College in1959 with a degree in education, married the love of her life, and moved to Michigan, where they remained until retirement. After their boys were active in school she went to work at the local Kmart store, working mostly in the cash office. It was a job that she enjoyed and even kept in touch with her co-workers for years after her retirement. She was also very active in the Westland Free Methodist Church CYC program and cooked for several of the youth group work trips. She especially enjoyed the camaraderie of the other cooks on these trips.
Having spent most of her life in Michigan it was time to spend winters in Florida as a snowbird in retirement. Even before retirement they loved to travel and camp. Her travels to the Everglades, Smoky Mountains, out West, to church camp, and to Zambia brought both joy and a wide perspective on life.
Yvonne loved her family, church and friends. She had an intimate relationship with her Savior that gave her courage as she faced physical difficulties, especially later in life. Even this past week she made it clear that she was ready to meet Jesus and see the many friends and family members that have gone ahead of her.
While her final resting place will be at Michigan Memorial Park, her life will continue both with Jesus in eternity and in the fond memories that we family and friends will carry with us until we meet again.
