Obituary of Yvonne Fay Rickards-Jimenez
Yvonne "Precious" Fay Rickards-Jimenez, 65, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away March 12, 2022. She was born on February 8, 1957 in Kingston, Jamaica to Duward Rickards, Sr and Bernice Plunkett.
Growing up, Yvonne enjoyed time with her family in Jamaica. Her family later moved to New York; where she attended Midwood High School and Brooklyn College (both in Brooklyn). She majored in Economics. Yvonne was known by her family and closest friends as "Precious." Being one of the only girls around many brothers, she was exactly that. Yvonne was a beautiful, loving soul. She enjoyed cheerleading and playing sports growing up. Yvonne was a woman of faith and regularly attended church as well as donated to causes for faith. In her adult life, she devoted 30+ years to working as a letter carrier for the USPS. She was a faithful member to the American Postal Services Union. Yvonne loved fashion. She loved to swim, to sing, to shop, and most of all, to travel. She had plans to see the world, but her favorite place to be was in her homeland Jamaica.
Yvonne is survived by her loving mother Bernice Plunkett; husband Henry Jimenez; children, Chelsea and Adam Jimenez; siblings, Rupert, Danny, Carl (Brenda) Rickards, Andrea (Junior) Senior, and Heather (Sonny) Daire; nieces and nephews, Marvin, Marlon, Adisa Sr., Sean, Ayanna, Kimberly, Victoria, Adisa Jr., Steven (Rickards), Erika (Michael) Holmes, Micah Holmes, Jada, Jordan (Senior), and Woodley Daire; and a host of other siblings, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and close family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Duward Rickards, Sr.; her brother, Julian Rickards; and her daughter, Janelle Jimenez.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 16, 2022 in Thompson Funeral Home of Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd. Columbia, SC 29209. A funeral service will immediately follow. Yvonne will then be buried in Poconos, PA next to her daughter, Janelle Jimenez.
