Zachary was born on January 8, 1989, in McAlester to Jeffrey Wayne Patton and Ramona (McCarty). From a young age, he developed the work ethic and determination that would define his life. He grew up in a close-knit family that taught him the value of helping others, staying true to your word, and taking pride in every job you do.
On October 3, 2015, Zachary married Cheyenne Mae Sumner in McAlester. The two built a strong and devoted partnership rooted in love, faith, and a shared dedication to raising their children. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, adventure, and the traditions that meant the most to them.
Zachary worked in the oil field, a career that matched his strength, resilience, and willingness to take on challenging work. He also served as a Lieutenant with the High Hill Fire Department, a role that allowed him to live out his belief in service, courage, and protecting his community. He was proud to stand alongside his fellow firefighters, and his commitment to them and to the people of the High Hill area will always be remembered.
Outside of work and service, Zachary lived life to the fullest. He loved hunting, fishing, raising bucking bulls, and riding side-by-sides. Whether he was out in the woods, working with his animals, or spending time outdoors with his family, he was happiest under the open Oklahoma sky.
Above all, Zachary was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend. He adored his children and took every opportunity to teach them, guide them, and make memories with them.
He is survived by his wife, Cheyenne Patton; his sons, Barrett, Colt, and Trigger; his daughter, Remington; his parents, Ramona and Tony Turney, and Jeff and Carla Patton; his sister, Bryar Turney; his grandmother, Susa Johnson; his grandfather, Jack Fomby; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sierra and Mason Myers; father-in-law, Rod Sumner; and his nieces and nephews, Ava Myers and Henry Parent.
Zachary also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family, friends, and community members who admired him for his loyalty, kindness, humor, and strong moral character. His absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Beth Sumner; his brother, Cody Turney; grandparents, Earlene Fomby, Ray McCarty, and Wayne and Kathy Patton; and great-grandparents, James and Pat Crimmins, Ted and Lena Maxwell, and Tommy Turney.
Zachary's life was one of dedication-to his family, his work, his faith, and his community. Though his time on earth was far too short, the impact he made will continue in the lives of those he loved. His memory will forever be carried by the people he held closest, and his spirit will live on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love he left behind.
