Steven Wayne Belcher, 64, of McAlester, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at McAlester Regional Health Center. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Friday, November 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home chapel. There will be no cemetery services afterward.

Steven Wayne Belcher was born on August 17, 1961 in McAlester to Slater and Patricia (Crabtree) Belcher. He grew up in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School in 1979. He joined the McAlester Fire Department, as a rookie, in 1981, and served for 35 years, until retiring with the rank of Captain and Shift Manager. Perhaps his first fire to fight was the old Diamond Hardware Store fire, in which Firefighter Zappy Ott lost his life. Steven has been active in getting a memorial placed at the site in remembrance of that night.

Steven stayed active throughout his life; he enjoyed a game of golf and played softball for several years in tournaments all around the state. He also enjoyed deer hunting and loved going to musical concerts. He was also a very big fan of Sooner football.

Steven is survived by his wife, Tina Belcher; his children, Derrick Belcher, Stefan Belcher and his wife Kira, and Chase Belcher; his grandchildren, Jaxon, Jocelyn, Jett, Jagger, Hailey, and Hayden Belcher, and Chabri Thompson; his sisters, Phyllis Sanders and husband Don, Linda Day, Lucretia Petty and son, Jason Joplin, Mary Kirk and sons, Chandler and Larsen, and Pamela Davenport and children, Kelsy, Macy, and Dallas; parents-in-law, Ida and Chet Pontuti; and other in-laws, Dayna and Jimmy Shannon, Cienna Shannon and Joey Pelletier, Brad and Jennifer Lewis, Sara and Aaron Rhynes, and Dianna Rollings. He also leaves behind his beloved Schnauzer, Ivy Grace.

The family would also like to share Steven's story; his diagnosis of Pancreatic cancer, which is one of the most difficult to treat, was initially diagnosed a little over a month before his death.
