Zane Ray Bone, age 51 of College Station, passed away on October 16, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville, Texas. Burial will follow at Davidson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Zane was born on July 2, 1974, in Eldorado, Texas to Marilyn and Bobby Bone. Zane was raised in Boerne, Texas and graduated from Boerne High School in 1992. He was a proud member of the fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 1996, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in turf grass management. Zane started his career in the golf course industry with internships at Fair Oaks Ranch and Tapatio Springs, both in Boerne, Texas, as well as Pinehurst Gold Club in North Carolina in the summer of 1996. While in North Carolina, he worked the 1996 Women’s Open golf tournament at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. After returning to Texas, he began working at the Barton Creek Palmer Lakeside Golf Course in Austin, Texas. Zane then had the opportunity to be instrumental in the construction of the Barton Creek Fazio Canyons Golf Course in Austin and the Spanish Oaks Golf Course in Bee Caves, Texas. After completion of the Spanish Oaks course, Zane transitioned his career into managing private estates and took great pride in taking care of these properties. He ended his career as the Garden Center Manager at Producers Cooperative in Bryan, Texas, helping customers with their horticultural needs.

Zane, as a young child, spent a great deal of time with his grandfather on the ranch where he developed his love and passion for livestock and range judging. At the age of seven, he started his own Southdown herd and raised many major show champions including the 2021 Houston Supreme Ram, Problems Solved. Zane passed down his passion for animals to his two daughters by helping them raise and exhibit sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, chickens, and a steer. In addition to his daughters, he helped many families with all their agricultural needs. In his spare time, Zane judged many national wool shows from coast to coast and would share his expertise and knowledge of wool judging with anyone who showed an interest. Outside of livestock, Zane supported his daughters in cross country and softball.

Zane is preceded in death by his mother Marilyn Bone; grandparents, Vernon and Mary Faris; and grandfather, Pat Bone.

He is survived by his daughters, Kendall Bone and Lainey Bone; father, Bobby Bone; sister, Amanda Daly and husband, Reid; nieces, Kinzley and Kasadee; grandmother, Henrietta Bone, and many friends and family.
