Zane A. Griffiths

Zane A. Griffiths, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2014.

Born in Farmington, W. Va., he lived in the Ohio Valley and graduated from Bridgeport High School. He married and served in the Marine Corps in Korea, and attended West Liberty State College. The family moved to Mogadore in 1966, where he was a member of Mogadore Baptist Church, Mogadore Historical Society, and was an avid Wildcat fan. He retired from Goodyear Aerospace/Loral after 29 years of service.

Preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and his loving wife of 62 years, Dolores; he is survived by sons, Wayne (Karen), Paul (Rachel Bowman), Glenn (Karen), and Andy (Linda); daughter, Margaret “Meg” (Richard) Messenger; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Gerry Dixon of Columbus, Ohio.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532), MOGADORE, Ohio 44260; and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Mogadore Baptist Church, 3750 Albrecht Ave, Akron, OH 44312, where funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rob Seymour officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. The family suggests memorials to Mogadore Baptist Church, Mogadore Historical Society and Hospice of Summa.
