Zane A. Plumley, 87, died early Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Orchard Park Assisted Living where he was being cared for since October.

He was born July 1, 1938 in Marion to the late Charles and Jean (Croft) Plumley. Zane graduated in 1956 from Waldo High School where he was on the annual staff and played baseball. He joined the US Army, serving overseas in Korea, and returned to Marion where he was employed at Tecumseh Products Co. until its closure. Zane later moved to Bucyrus where he could support his son and retired from The Timken Co.

While Zane often kept to himself, he will be remembered as a likeable man who loved sports and reminiscing. He loved watching a crime get solved in a classic noir film when he wasn’t watching a football game or a golf tournament. Outside of home, Zane enjoyed sharing stories and arguing about politics with his friends at the AmVets and American Legion. He also was an avid fisherman, sharing his passion with his son and grandsons and enjoying fishing trips to Canada with Buck Pfahler and other friends.

Zane is survived by son, Tim (Amy) Plumley; grandsons, Logan and Bailey Plumley; and his beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Don Millisor and Tommy Plumley and sister, Susie Huckaba.

All services will be held at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 6th from 4-7 pm and the funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with military rites by the US Army Honor Guard and Bucyrus Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions can be made payable to AmVets or American Legion and given at the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared in the guestbook of Zane’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
