Molly Jean Gerhart, 70, died Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Unger Park Acute Care in Bucyrus after ten years of declining health.
She was born October 7, 1955 in Upper Sandusky to the late Paul Emick Sr. and Jeannette (Alban) Emick Heidemann. Molly grew up near Nevada and graduated from Wynford High School. She was a devoted homemaker and worked as an in-home caregiver until her health no longer allowed.
Molly will be remembered as a people person and for her devotion to Jesus Christ. She loved to sing and dance to Christian music, and to participate in ladies Bible studies. She raised her family on a farm, tending to chickens, goats, cows, and other livestock. Molly loved dogs (especially Maggie), taking walks around the reservoir, and drinking her favorite McDonalds coffee. Seeing her grandchildren and spending time with them brought her special joy as well.
Molly is survived by children, Joab Gerhart, Ashley (Shawn) Hofmeister, and Kirk (Marie) Gerhart; grandchildren, Haley, Avery, and Lyla Hofmeister and Paxton, Seth, Peyton, and Hayden Gerhart; and siblings, Carolyn (Dan) Rindfuss, Skeet (Gary) Butts, Tom Emick, and Paul Jr. (Janice) Emick.
In addition to her parents, Molly was preceded in death by daughter, Hayley Gerhart and sister-in-law, Donna Emick.
Molly’s family will gather privately to lay her to rest in Nevada Cemetery near her parents.
