Harry Gerald "Jerry" Gerhart

Harry Gerald "Jerry" Gerhart, 90, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Harry S. and Marguerite (Heintzelman) Gerhart and was the husband of Grace S. (Crills) Gerhart, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Jerry was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, Ephrata. He was a 1953 graduate of Ephrata High School, and he served his country proudly in the US Navy during the Korean War. Jerry was a 40 year employee to Lukens Steel Company, before his retirement in 1997. He was past president of the Ephrata Lions Club, a life member of the Ephrata Lodge B.P.O. Elks #1933, Friendly Circle and AMVETS Post 136. He enjoyed baseball, golf, hunting, fishing and traveling. Jerry especially enjoyed time spent with family. He had a big heart and was known as the neighborhood grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by two sisters, Janice R., wife of Bruce Brossman of Lititz, and Joan K., wife of Tom Wealand of Akron.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Miles.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, at Hope United Methodist Church, 3474 Rothsville Road, Ephrata, followed by his memorial service at 1:30 PM, with Pastor Kris Pursel officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to Hope Preschool Scholarship Fund, 3474 Rothsville Road, Ephrata, PA 17522.
