Nancy Carol Shepherd-Halter, born on August 5, 1950, in Clark County, Indiana, passed away on February 16, 2026, in Ephrata, Pennsylvania.
Nancy was an active and dedicated member of the VFW Post 1690 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she previously served as an Auxiliary Guard. Her strong sense of community and commitment to service were evident in her ongoing involvement at the post until her passing. Outside of her community contributions, Nancy found joy in spending time with her friends and indulging in her favorite pastime of playing Bingo. She also had a passion for crafting and delighted in working on her Diamond Art pieces, an endeavor that brought her much happiness and creativity.
Nancy is survived by her son, Ted Halter, Jr. (Jenna Gentry), and her grandson, Jaxson Gentry. She also leaves behind her daughter, Renee Halter (CJ Keefer), and her niece, Melissa Shepherd, along with a large extended family who will remember her with love and fond memories.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Halter, Sr., and several siblings: Robert Carlton, Allen Carlton, Anna Marie Shepherd, Margaret Duncan, Eugene Huber, David Carlton, and Beverley Hogue. Their memories will forever be intertwined with hers, as she takes her place among them in eternal rest.
Visitation for Nancy will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, Indiana with her funeral service taking place at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Charlestown Cemetery.
