Zanna Marie Hunter was born on April 18, 1932, to the late Bennie and Viola Young and went to meet Jesus on Friday, November 28, 2025 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, being 93 years of age.
Known simply as "Granny" to friends and family alike, she was the most pure definition of love. She had a way of making anybody in her presence feel loved and important. She was created to take care of others, which was evidenced if you were around her for any length of time. She made it her goal for no one around her to be cold, hungry, or thirsty. 'Where there is great grief, there was great love'...while words cannot hold the weight of the pain we feel now, we count ourselves blessed to have experienced such a great love from such a precious woman. Our shattered hearts give way to the blessed assurance of a promised reunion one day.
In addition to her parents, Granny was preceded in death by her first husband, Isaac Gray. From this union, she was blessed with 3 children, Della Jean Culton and Earl "Rabbit" Gray, both of whom were waiting for her in Glory. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Bingham of Versailles, KY and her daughter-in-law, Joyce Gray of Gray Hawk. She was also welcomed home to Heaven by her second husband, James Hunter, her siblings, James Young, Eva Cunnigan, and Lela Young and the following grandchildren, Tammy Spurlock, Shane Culton, Sherry Bingham, Billy Gray, and Angie Flannery. What a glorious reunion there must have been!
Granny leaves behind a void that can never be filled. She is loved and survived by her grandchildren: Penny (Ernest) Whitehead, Jerry Spurlock, Holly (Chuck) Thompson, Greg (Kelly) Bingham, April (Jerry) Vickers, Josh (Jennifer) Gray, Lana Williams. Granny was blessed with 11 great grandchildren: Ashley (Will) Judd, Adam (Laken) Whitehead, Brandi (Travis) Nunn, Caitlyn Johnson, Henry (Kenzie) Thompson, Madeline Vickers, Riley Vickers, Hannah (Dustin) Gilbert, Travis Bingham, Austin Gray, Jamie Hisel, Samantha Flannery, and Stacy (Billy) Long. She was also blessed with 16 great-great grandchildren: Kaleb, Keaton, Kinley, and Karsyn Judd, Karley Whitehead, Briley Rose, Lily and Mason Nunn, Mason Johnson, Ava Jean Smith, Madison, Brayden, Brandalynn, and Ashlynn Gilbert, Kelbi Flannery, Tristan and Grayson Long.
