Zora Darlene Robinson Lanning, 83, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
A native of Yancey County, she was born May 22, 1942 to the late Stokes Robinson and Lizzie Mae Robinson.
Darlene was a faithful member of Trinity Missionary Baptist for 52 years. She enjoyed making beautiful quilts, which will be cherished by her family and friends for years to come. Known as a wonderful cook, Darlene was an avid gardener, and she also took great pride in her flowers. She liked to work jigsaw puzzles. A devoted wife for 64 years, Darlene was also a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister who will be missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert Robinson, Claude Robinson, Russell Robinson, and Dennis Robinson, and two sisters, Kathleen Garland and Virginia Buchanan.
She is survived by her husband, Troy Lanning; six children, Teresa Cannon (Jimmy), Ken Lanning (Sheila), Ronnie Lanning (Lisa), Rick Lanning, Steve Lanning (Christy), and Crystal Johnson; nine grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Clifford Robinson (Monica); two sisters, Maude Williams and Estelle Briggs; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be officiated by Rev. Mark Annas, Rev. Mike Church, and Rev. Mike Buchanan. Burial will be at Kona Baptist Church Cemetery in Mitchell County.
