Zulema I. Lujan, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away on March 3, 2026, in El Paso, Texas, at the age of 76. Born on April 2, 1949, in La Boquilla de San Isidro, Municipal Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico, Zulema lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family.
A remarkable cook, Zulema was known for her delightful asados that brought families together. Her kitchen was a sanctuary where delicious meals were crafted with love, accompanied by her infectious laughter and spirited jokes. She carried a warm spirit that enveloped those around her, ensuring that every gathering was filled with joy and connection.
Despite the passing years, Zulema thrived on reminding her children of the values she held dear, instilling in them the lessons she learned growing up. No matter how old they became, her gentle reminders were constant, a testament to her loving nature and commitment to family. She believed in the importance of keeping a clean home and always emphasized looking presentable, values she wanted her daughters to carry forward.
Zulema cherished her moments on the front porch, where she would sit and reflect, enjoying the simple beauty of life. She found immense joy in connecting with her children and grandchildren through FaceTime, their laughter bridging the distance and filling her heart with happiness.
Her personality shone brightly - she was kind-hearted, supportive, and gifted with a great sense of humor. Her incredible strength and nurturing spirit made her an amazing grandmother and mother, and her family was truly a reflection of how beautifully she raised them.
Zulema is survived by her sister, Delma Lujan; her brother, Jesus Ibarra; her daughters, Susan Urias and her husband Abel Urias, Sandra Lujan and her husband Ernesto Rocha, and Lupita Iniguez and her husband Joey Iniguez; as well as her adored grandchildren, Chanelle Lujan, Tyler Lujan, Harlie Urias, Ozlynn Urias, Aaliyah Lujan-Villalobos, Skylar Urias, Giana Urias, Jachin Iniguez, and Jeshua Iniguez.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pablo G. Lujan; her daughter, Alicia Lujan; her sister, Olimpa Lujan; and her brother, Abel Ibarra. Each of them left an indelible mark on her life, and their memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
