Alice Agnes O'Rourke
1928 - 2021
Alice Agnes O'Rourke of Clearlake, CA passed away on July 14, 2021, in Napa, CA at the age of 93 years-young.
Alice was born on June 21, 1928, to Thomas and Agnes Quick in Sundance, Wyoming. The oldest of Thomas and Agnes's three children (Betty, Melvin), Alice was raised in a household of faith with her family worshipping with the Seventh-Day Adventist church.
In 1930, Alice's family moved to Rapid City, SD and would move frequently throughout her life: first, following her father's work as a Cat-skinner/heavy equipment operator, and then, following her husband's work as a tradesman in plastering. Alice met her husband, Kenneth O'Rourke Sr. in Rapid City and they were married on May 13, 1947.
In 1953, work took Alice and Kenneth and their two sons, Keith and Kevin, out west to a building boom in Southern California. As their family grew and work grew, Alice and Kenneth moved around Southern California and lastly settled in Baldwin Park, CA.
In 1967, Alice and her family once again followed the work and moved to Northern California, settling in St. Helena, CA. Alice worked at Homer Wright's Farm Stand while the boys were in school.
Alice was a daddy's girl and loved to work alongside her father at Glass Mountain Tree Farm. Annually, her sons and grandkids would head to the farm to cut down their Christmas trees and kick off the Advent season. Family was her life. She particularly looked forward to the family's annual golf tournaments at Aetna Springs - where she was everybody's mom and where her family spent many, many days on the golf course and in the clubhouse over the decades.
Alice is survived by her four loving sons: Keith (Mary) of Napa, CA, Kevin (Barbara) of Fairfield, CA, Kenneth, Jr. (Wendy) of Fernley, NV, and LaVerne (Paula) of Napa, CA, Andrea of Sonoma; and many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Quick (Martha) of Deer Park, CA, her nephews, Mike and Greg Quick; and niece Diana Kleshock.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth O'Rourke Sr., her sons, Kevin David and Terry of Sonoma, CA; her parents, Thomas and Agnes Quick of Deer Park, CA; and her sister, Betty O'Rourke.
Alice's family would like to give many thanks to the staff, administration, and hospice workers of Piner's Nursing Home in Napa, CA for providing such good care to Alice from January 2020 to the end of her life.
A private, family burial will be held in St. Helena, CA.
Alice will be missed tremendously - especially her incredible hugs.
