Anita Castellano Obituary

With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, and Nana, Anita M. Castellano, on August 22, 2025, at the age of 79.

Anita was born the eldest of three children to William Castellano and Elizabeth Silva on April 7, 1946, in Oakland, California. In 1964, Anita graduated from Sunset High School in the top five percent of her graduating class and as a Life Member of the California Scholarship Federation. In 1968, Anita received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from California State College of Hayward, and in 1969, she received her teaching credential.

Anita was a beloved 45+ year community member of Napa as a city employee, a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Napa branch, a volunteer at the Lucky Penny Theater, a member of the Napa Valley Voices and Sing Napa Valley choirs, and as a DoNapa Ambassador for Downtown Napa. Anita was very active in her community through book clubs, meditation groups, bocce ball, the Senior Center, walking groups, and as a member of the Napa Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.

Anita is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, John O'Gara, and her brothers Victor and Paul Castellano. She is survived by her daughter, Karisa Neuner, her son, Kevin Neuner (sp. Danielle Parish), two granddaughters, Phoebe Parish-Neuner and Thabie Shabalala, her sisters-in-law, Vonnie Castellano and Pat Hampton, and her two stepchildren, Sean and Carrie O'Gara. Anita's laughter, joy, and kindness (and her love of all things purple and butterflies) will be greatly missed by all. Anita Castellano
