Delois Townsend Obituary

Alene age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her daughter's house on November 5, 2025.

Alene was born on April 22, 1934, in Oklahoma City, OK to Price and Maggie (Adamson) Cates. She attended schools in Oklahoma City and marched in all the parades as a Majorette. At a very young age she married Nathaniel Dalton and had 3 children, Sharon/Bob/Barbara. She moved to CA around 1955 and worked at Macy's Dept store. She and Nathaniel parted ways in 1964, and she continued to raise her children alone.

She married Fred Casassa in 1965 and moved to Napa. Shortly after she lost her daughter Sharon to a long illness. She began her career at Pacific Telephone in 1965 as a Service Representative and was promoted to a Collection Manager for Northern CA/Nevada retiring in 1990. She served on the Napa Grand Jury and was an active participant in helping Fred with Napa Native Sons.

In 1997 she formally adopted Michael, Fred's son from a prior marriage, and welcomed him to the family officially. She became a volunteer teacher at St Apollinaris Religious Education Program and helped to create the "Holiday Angel Bazaar". She became very involved with the church by singing in the choir, serving as a board member for the Religious Education Program and the CYO and was always there to help with any other church events. In 2002 she was named St Apollinaris Women's Guild Woman of the year.

After 30 years of marriage, Fred passed away. A few years later she started dating Don, whom she had known when he was married to his deceased wife. Alene and Don were married in 1998 and traveled extensively all over the world by car, plane, bus, and ships and enjoyed every journey to the fullest. Don passed away in 2021 leaving Alene widowed again.

Alene was a loving, generous, passionate and fun mother, grandmother, friend and was very spiritual. She loved her family, church, and friends deeply.

She is survived by:

Children: Robert Dale Dalton (Carol); Barbara Sorensen (Tom); Michael Casassa (Lisa)

Bob, Barbara and Michael - I am so sorry to read about your mom's passing. It doesn't matter how old we are when we lose our moms, it just renders us little kids. My mom has been gone for 36 years. I still think of her daily and any time something fun or fabulous happens, I still think "I gotta call my Mom". Your mom was a gem. She had a beautiful singing voice. And I have always remembered two situations in particular where she extended her kindness to me. Revel in your happy memories. The sadness never goes away but it changes and you adapt to your new reality. I just wanted ya'll to know I am thinking about you and your mom.

My dear Aunt was one of the most loving persons I´ve ever known. I always felt loved by her.
We had great conversations throughout time. Me living in another state meant we didn´t see each other often but kept in contact through other ways. I always looked forward to her Christmas cards that was accompanied by a letter of what went on with her and Don throughout the year. The travels they did was interesting to read about, down to exciting times where they would eat, and experiences in all the different places. I was impressed and admired her for the dedication to God and her community through her church. She touched many lives. She was very wise. More than once, I would learn something here and there, just by listening. She was extremely encouraging. She believed people should be responsible in the ways they lived life. She would ask me what I had been doing, and about the plans I had, and when I told her, she would make me feel good about myself, and probably more than I deserved. I´m so blessed to be her nephew. I loved her dearly, and will reunite with her someday in the heavenly home that God provides for His children.
Blessings

Alene's influence extended far beyond her role as my mother-in-law, as she was also a cherished friend, mother figure, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her presence had a profound impact on those who knew her, inspiring them to become better versions of themselves. Whenever surrounded by her loved ones, her face would shine brightly, reflecting her ardent passion for family, friends, and faith.
