F. Ronald Hetrick, M.D.
1947 - 2022
NAPA - We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Ronald Hetrick. Ron passed away too soon after being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. He was surrounded by family during his last days and passed peacefully.
Ron was born in Berkeley and grew up in the Bay Area and in Southern California. He pursued a career in medicine, graduating from Northwestern University in Chicago. He had many professional experiences, including working as an Emergency Room Physician and proudly serving his country as a U.S. Air Force Flight Surgeon in Guam and in Europe. He then further educated himself at UCLA and became a Radiologist and ultimately part of the Radiology Medical Group of Napa at Queen of the Valley Hospital, where he practiced for the past 35 years. He was a compassionate physician, always ready to go above and beyond the call of duty to assist his patients and friends. Ron was well respected by his colleagues of every specialty and revered by his patients.
Ron was always active and loved working out, traveling, sailing, and scuba diving. He loved fine food and fine wine and was an excellent chef. Ron was generous and selfless - he always gave more than he received and improved the lives of everyone who crossed his path.
He is survived by his wife, Kim; his sons: Griffin and Ian; his sisters" Michelle, Jeanette, and Adrienne; and by all their families. He will forever be missed.
In leu of flowers, please fund the Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation on Ron's behalf.

Ron and I worked together for 30 years at the Queen. He was a gentle person who was a pleasure to interact with and exhibited a true concern for his patients and sharing his medical expertise with consulting physicians. We had many encounters in the physician dining room over the years, sharing personal and family experiences. Ron was a good person to have known and work with, certainly adding to my career in medicine and life. He lives on through the people he affected and will be missed.
