James Donald Engstrom
1951 – 2021
James Donald Engstrom, of Napa, died February 4th of cancer and kidney disease. Jim was born in Indianapolis, IN on 12/23/1951 to Don and Joan (Stapleton) Lofgran. After his parents divorced, Jim and his two sisters returned to Wyoming where his mother remarried in 1957 to Harold (Hal) Engstrom, who adopted the three siblings and added three more children to their family – twin brothers Hardy and Kevin, and sister Lael. Always a natural with people, Jim spent his career in the hospitality industry with managerial positions in Casper, Wyoming, Denver and Vail, Colorado, Santa Fe, New Mexico and finally in Napa. It was in Napa that Jim met the love of his life and partner of 21+ years, Lynne Memmott. Lynne, a native of Napa was a perfect fit for Jim's love of live music, wine, food, and entertaining.
Jim will be remembered as a natural athlete, a handsome, charming, funny, sharp-dressed, quick-witted, trivia loving guy, a terrific dancer, a great host, and for his gorgeous smile.
He is survived by his "Honey" Lynne Memmott and her two sons, PJ Memmott (Danielle) and Mike Memmott, his "grandbabies" - Liam, Violet and Liliana; his mother, Joan Shelsta (Rod); sister Lisa Engstrom Seran, all of Napa; Christina Engstrom, Hardy Engstrom, Kevin Engstrom, Lael Engstrom, all of Denver, CO., and 2 nieces, Gabriella Seran (Yountville) and Rachel Zamboras (Michigan).
He is predeceased by both fathers. Due to the Pandemic, a celebration of Jim's life will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Collabria Care Hospice

Amazingly another year has flown by without having Jim around. Most of the people I know in Casper knew Inky back in the day. Many great stories emerged and continue to be told around the old camp fire. The one thing that James could do was make us all laugh at his crazy stories and nicknames for everyone and everything. Yes we continue to miss our friend Jim - but will never forget! God bless - we will talk again soon!

Well another year has just flown by - and I still have Jim's obituary from the local newspaper cut out and featured (with a few others) at the end of my kitchen countertop. I don't think a week goes by that I don't tell someone (could be anyone) a story or two from when Jimbo and I used to ride the wild west! All the best to Huns and the family! Always thinking of you! Love, Dale

It has been two years since we lost James. I so miss my love, my best friend, my partner. Every day he is in my thoughts. I am so thankful he came into my life and our boys life. The grandkids speak of him often and I am so thankful for the memories they have. Such a special man.Oh how I miss the dancing!

As I reminisce again of the great times my best friend Jim and I had over the years - I am somewhat in disbelief that time has gone by so fast. We all miss Jim - but we also enjoy telling old funny stories around the campfire - laughing our butts off! God Bless Jimbo!

Jim will be very missed. He was there for me during some of the most difficult times of my life, and was not only my boss for years, but was like a second father to me.
