Jerry Levitin Obituary

Jerry Levitin of Napa passed away peacefully at home on March 27th. He leaves behind his daughter, Amy Walsh, her husband, Mark Walsh, and his beloved grandchildren, Chloe and William Walsh.

Born in San Francisco in 1937, Jerry was a second-generation native San Franciscan who later made his home in Napa with the love of his life, Louise. A Criminal Defense Attorney by trade, he was also appointed as San Francisco Traffic Commissioner-no easy feat in a city where parking is an extreme sport.

Jerry was a published author, a playwright, and a hotelier, transforming a Nob Hill apartment building into a boutique hotel. Later, he took his passion for hoJspitality to Camden, Maine, where he opened an inn on the ocean -Louise and Jerry's true happy place.

His creativity extended to the stage, writing the 2005 play I'd Kill for a Parking Place, a mystery-comedy set in 1973 that also addressed racial tensions of the era. The play was well received in San Francisco and later premiered locally in Napa in 2019.

Beyond his accomplishments, Jerry had a deep commitment to giving back. He was a proud supporter of health care organizations and charities that provide legal assistance to the underserved.

A lifelong sports fan, Jerry had an unwavering devotion to the Golden State Warriors and the Cal Bears basketball team. His wisdom, wit, dry humor and warm smile will be deeply missed but will live on in all those he touched.

Rest peacefully, Dad, and give Louise a hug from all of us.

I greatly enjoyed working with Jerry on his South County real estate project. He was exacting, demanding, and always of good humor. I enjoyed reading his book about various bed and breakfast inns they´d enjoyed. He was a good man.
