John Devlin Obituary

John "Jack" Devlin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend died unexpectedly on the morning of April 29, 2024, at the age of 85, just eight days shy of his 86th birthday. He was born in San Francisco in 1938 to George and Mary Devlin and was the cherished twin brother to Joan and a loving older brother to Ann. Jack suffered the loss of his father at the young age of 14. Jack's mother, Mary, then met and married Frank Sears and they combined their two families, which gave Jack four step-siblings, Suzanne, Brian, Janet, and Patty, all of whom predeceased Jack.

After graduating from high school, Jack spent the next four years in the Air Force.

Jack met his future wife, Nancy (Cirimele), through his younger sister Ann, while both young women were attending Dominican College. They married in 1961 and were together for over 62 years. He was a devoted father to his three daughters, Maryanne, Jeanne, and Katie, whom he adored beyond measure. Jack's love and guidance will forever live on in their hearts and memories.

Jack was a humble man, known for his unwavering dedication and tireless work ethic in supporting his family. He worked for Varian Associates in Walnut Creek for over 35 years and retired at the age of 59. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis shortly after retirement. Jack was the strong silent type and rarely complained about the difficulties with his health. During his last years, he suffered from dementia and he spent his final days in AEGIS assisted living facility where he received loving care. Jack continued to take pleasure in the present, and the many visits from his wife, Nancy, and his daughters.

Jack's legacy of love, hard work, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. Shelly Feinberg (wife, Carole) was his best friend from high school and the two men remained close to the end.

Jack leaves behind his wife, Nancy Devlin, and daughters Maryanne Christoffersen (Nancy Boudett), Jeanne (Rob) Celsi, and Katie Devlin. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Matt Christoffersen (Bria), Erik Christoffersen (Alexis), Isabella Celsi, Benjamin Celsi, Joseph Celsi, Jeffrey Fitz Gibbon, and Brendan Fitz Gibbon. He also has two great-grandchildren, Shayne and Aurora Christoffersen.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (mymsaa.org) in honor of Jack's memory.

A Catholic Mass to celebrate Jack's life will be held on Monday, May 20th at 10 a.m. at St. John's the Baptist Church in Napa, CA. All who wish to pay their respects and honor Jack's memory are welcome to attend. The interment will follow at Tulocay Cemetery with a reception following.

May Jack rest in peace, knowing he was loved deeply and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Nancy I am deeply saddened to have found out that Jack had passed away. I'm so sorry. I did not know that he had dementia and was at the AEGIS. We haven't seen each other for so long, but I think of you both so often. Actually a couple nights ago I was thinking that wanted to call you maybe send a card To just say hi and see how everyone was not knowing about Jack.
I have so many fond memories fun times Ralph and I had with you and Jack. That will be the way. I will remember him. He was a special guy and I know this is a very difficult time for you your family and your friends. I will see you on Monday, Love you, Nancy
